چکیده

Speaker recognition refers to the concept of recognizing a speaker by his=her voice or speech samples. Some of the important applications of speaker recognition include customer veri cation for bank transactions, access to bank accounts through telephones, control on the use of credit cards, and for security purposes in the army, navy and airforce. This paper is purely a tutorial that presents a review of the classi er based methods used for speaker recognition. Both unsupervised and supervised classi ers are described. In addition, practical approaches that utilize diversity, redundancy and fusion strategies are discussed with the aim of improving performance. ? 2002 Pattern Recognition Society. General Machine Learning Classifiers and Data Fusion Schemes for Efficient Speaker Recognition

Data fusion methods can take advantage of the concepts of diversity and redundancy to improve system performance. Diversity can be used to improve system performance through the incorporation of different information. Similarly, redundancy can achieve the same goals through the re-use of data. These concepts have been thoroughly applied on pattern recognition problems. The basic idea is that if...

Speaker Verification Using Adapted User-Dependent Multilevel Fusion

In this paper we study the application of user-dependent score fusion to multilevel speaker recognition. After reviewing related works in multimodal biometric authentication, a new score fusion technique is described. The method is based on a form of Bayesian adaptation to derive the personalized fusion functions from prior user-independent data. Experimental results are reported using the MIT ...

Speaker Adaptation in Continuous Speech Recognition Using MLLR-Based MAP Estimation

A variety of methods are used for speaker adaptation in speech recognition. In some techniques, such as MAP estimation, only the models with available training data are updated. Hence, large amounts of training data are required in order to have significant recognition improvements. In some others, such as MLLR, where several general transformations are applied to model clusters, the results ar...

Speaker verification with multiple classifier fusion using Bayes based confidence measure

A novel framework based on Bayes-based confidence measure (BBCM) for Multiple Classifier System (MCS) fusion is proposed. As shown here, BBCM based MCS combination scheme corresponds to the ordinary Bayes fusion weighted by the reliability of each individual classifier. BBCM provides a formal model for heuristic weighting functions employed elsewhere. When compared with the ordinary Bayesian fu...
